It was late December, and the weather was stormy. I went back to my parents’ home after 3 years of absence. I’m told: some of our relatives in Gaza were killed, the last one was a 12 years old girl. Every morning my mother asks: How did they sleep tonight under the heavy rain. My mother tells me not to film the TV and to erase what I filmed. “The picture says what the story cannot”?
Sawyer Avenue, Sunday Afternoon
USA, 2026 | 18 min | Documentary
Director · Editing Bill Morrison
AEBko Aduana eta Mugen Babeserako Agentziako (CBP) agenteak —aurpegia estalita— Chicagoko bizitegi-kale batean gizon bat atxilotu eta eramaten dutenean, haren auzokoak gizona daraman ibilgailua blokeatzen saiatzen dira, auzotik atera ez dadin. CBPko agenteen gorputz-kameretako irudiak eta protestariek telefono mugikorrez grabatutakoak uztartuz, *Sawyer Avenue, Sunday Afternoon* lanak Ameriketako Estatu Batuetan polizia-jarduera faxista areagotzen ari deneko une zehatz bat jasotzen du.
When masked US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) agents abduct a man from a residential street in Chicago without a warrant, his neighbors attempt to obstruct the vehicle carrying him from leaving their block. Combining CBP body-worn camera footage with the mobile phone footage captured by protesters, Sawyer Avenue, Sunday Afternoon distills a specific moment in the rise of fascist policing in America.
